(Chris Parker, Headline USA) Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis recently drew the ire of Democrats and the mainstream media across the nation after sending illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard.
Yet despite that, polls show that residents in his home state of Florida support the decision, reported Fox News.
According to a Spectrum News/Sienna College poll, 49% of likely Florida voters support sending illegal migrants to other states, while 44% do not support the action.
And while it’s no surprise that 90% of Republican respondents supported the decision, an impressive 50% of independent voters were also on board. Only 10% of Democrats supported the relocation.
The decision sparked outrage among Martha’s Vineyard’s residents and government leaders despite their public signs embracing diversity and inclusiveness.
In reality, the people of Martha’s Vineyard couldn’t rid themselves of the illegal immigrants fast enough. They spent less than 48 hours on the far-Left island before getting shipped off to a military base.
“The difficult challenges are—we have to, at some point in time they [illegals] have to move from here to somewhere else—we cannot, we don’t have the services to take care of 50 immigrants and we certainly don’t have housing,” said Martha’s Vineyard Homeless Shelter Coordinator Lisa Belcastro. “We’re in a housing crisis as we are on this island! We can’t house everyone here that lives here and works here!”
However, studies found that Martha’s Vineyard actually has the capacity to house 6 million illegal immigrants.
The poll results come at a time when Biden’s open-border policies have led to a crisis that has overwhelmed the US Border Patrol. Over a dozen of their apprehensions have been of terrorists. Agents believe many more have already reached their US destinations.
Illegal immigrants faced a similar welcome in Chicago, a sanctuary city, after they were transported there from Texas.
“The Left has painted any governor or mayor who doesn’t welcome illegal immigrants as ‘racist,’” noted Headline Health. “Now one of the Left’s own icons who checks every box — female, lesbian, black, woke — has been caught busing illegal aliens out of her jurisdiction.”
