‘Politico’ Propagandists Tried to Cancel Mothers

'They create a culture of fear in which everyone — including the adults who are supposed to be in charge — is terrified of stepping out of line and becoming a target of the bullies... '

(Dmytro “Henry” AleksandrovHeadline USA) In her new book, The Snowflakes’ Revolt: How Woke Millennials Hijacked American Media, journalist Amber Athey revealed how reporters at Politico were warned to not use the word “mother” and other terms that would state biological reality.

Athey’s book also pointed out something that most people knew already — the generation of woke reporters took control of the American newsrooms, according to the Daily Mail.

“They create a culture of fear in which everyone — including the adults who are supposed to be in charge — is terrified of stepping out of line and becoming a target of the bullies.”

In her book, she also described how two people at Politico became triggered after one of the correspondents, Gabby Orr, published an article titled “GOP seizes on women’s sports as [an] unlikely wedge issue.”

It came to the point when Orr was told to participate in a meeting with Politico’s Director of Editorial Diversity Initiatives, Robin Turner, where she was questioned about her working for the center-right Washington Examiner and the fact that she didn’t include any opinions of men who pretend to be women in her article, while quoting conservatives, such as American Principles Project Director Terry Schilling and former White House policy adviser Stephen Miller.

Turner was also concerned about Orr’s interviewees using the phrase “biological women” because it may be offensive to people.

The meeting resulted in Turner telling Orr that her leftist colleagues will work as “sensitivity readers” to make sure that her future stories would not be offensive and cause any controversy.

Unsurprisingly, Orr left Politico shortly afterward. Her choice of another employer wasn’t a very smart move though, since she joined CNN.

The situation with Orr wasn’t the only case that showed the far-Left political bias of the publication. According to one of Politico’s seminars, correspondents were told to report in a “more comprehensive and inclusive way” when it came to “transgender” issues.

Panelists also told reporters in an email that summarizes the seminar that neutral coverage is not okay too, since a neutral position was created by “white, cisgender men.”

“One former Politico reporter who attended the seminar said the panelists complained that the word ‘mother’ could potentially be offensive when used by reporters and mocked reporters who had a hard time grappling with the grammatical implications of referring to singular individuals as ‘they/them,'” Athey wrote and added that woke Politico reporters also argued that the phrase “birthing moms” should be replaced with “birthing people.”

After that, a censor was appointed to make sure reporters use the “right” phrases and, in January 2022, a style guide that warned against using the phrase “pregnant women” was released.
