Pelosi Says Clarence Thomas Should Have Never Been Appointed

'If your wife is an admitted and proud contributor to a coup of our country, maybe you should weigh that in your ethical standards... '

(Headline USAHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., insisted this week that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas should “never have been appointed” to the bench when asked about his wife’s political activism.

Leftists have been clamoring to remove Thomas from the court for years, but revamped their efforts last week after it was revealed that his wife, Ginni Thomas, told former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows that she believed the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

When asked about this news, Pelosi stopped short of calling on the justice to resign, but claimed his wife’s text messages with Meadows raise ethical questions about whether he can preside over cases regarding the Jan. 6 Capitol protests fairly.

“I’m not going to go to that, but I will say that in H.R. 1, our bill to have cleaner government, we have a call for the Supreme Court to have a code of ethics,” she said at a press conference on Thursday. “I never thought he should have been appointed.”

“They have no code of ethics — and really? It’s the Supreme Court of the United States … and we don’t know what their ethical standards are,” Pelosi continued.

Pelosi went on to accuse Ginni Thomas of being a “proud member of a coup.”

“If your wife is an admitted and proud contributor to a coup of our country, maybe you should weigh that in your ethical standards,” she said.

Several other prominent Democrats have demanded that Clarence Thomas resign or be impeached, including Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
