Parents in Loudoun County, Virginia are demanding the resignations of the county’s superintendent and other school officials after a bombshell report revealed that officials covered up the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl by a “gender fluid” boy to pass a transgender bathroom policy.
During a school board meeting on Tuesday, dozens of parents demanded to know why Superintendent Scott Ziegler claimed there had been no recorded incident of sexual assault in the school’s bathrooms when, just last year, a ninth-grade girl was attacked by a male student wearing a skirt in the girls’ restroom.
The boy was charged with two counts of forcible sodomy, one count of anal sodomy, and one count of forcible fellatio, according to the attorney for the girl’s father.
According to the Daily Wire, school officials tried to downplay the rape to Scott Smith, the girl’s father, and to other parents at the school, saying in a school-wide email that the incident was only “something out of the ordinary.”
They also told Smith that they would handle the assault “in house” when he asked to go to the police.
At some point, the school also quietly transferred the assailant to a different school, where he attacked another female student just last week, the Daily Wire discovered.
When Smith went to a June 22 school board meeting to share what happened to his daughter and speak against the district’s proposed transgender bathroom policy, he was arrested after getting into a heated exchange with another parent.
At that same meeting, Ziegler claimed that concerns about the bathroom policy were unfounded, saying “the predator transgender student or person simply does not exist.”
He also said, “We don’t have any record of assaults occurring in our restrooms.”
In response to the Daily Wire’s report, parents demanded that Ziegler be held accountable for his dishonest and negligence.
“This is not China, this is the United States of America, and we will not be silenced,” one mother told the school board on Tuesday, according to Fox News.
“Remove the superintendent immediately and then resign for your negligence and duplicity,” she continued. “End this nightmare!”
Another mother demanded that the school board members also be held responsible for passing the transgender bathroom policy.
“The 8040 policy was rushed through to a vote without consideration for the safety of all students, simply to satisfy a liberal agenda—a policy that you knew full well would allow our children to be abused inside our schools,” she said. “At least two young women are recent victims of sexual assaults in our high schools, one of them in a restroom.”
One father pointed out that Loudoun County’s parents protested the policy but were ignored anyway.
“We warned you about policies that you were putting into place that would be a danger to our students, and we’ve seen that happen,” he said. “When is enough enough? When are you going to change the policies to keep our children safe?”
