Nervous Dems Spending Early Like Their Career Depends Upon Commercials

'Anybody who’s coming at us, they’re going to be in for a fight...'

(Ezekiel Loseke, Headline USA) Democrats in swing states have begun spending big very early in the electoral cycle amid deep unpopularity and mounting pressure to defend their leadership.

The big spending “a sign of Democrat’s political reality,” which is desperation, Politico reported.

Rep. Dan Kildee, D-Mich., said he was prepared to leverage the $3 million he has raised for his political campaign with ads trying to convince voters he is moderate and bipartisan.

“Anybody who’s coming at us, they’re going to be in for a fight,” Kildee told Politico. “I don’t believe in being timid.”

Kildee’s ads emphasize his attempts to lower the price of insulin and prescription drugs, and to help farmers, while painting his opponents as tools of Big Pharma.

Rep. Kim Schrier, D-Wash., is another Democrat spending early to avoid doom in the mid-terms, per Politico.

Schrier has over $6 million to leverage in her campaign against Army Veteran Jesse Jensen, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

But unlike Kildee’s lurch toward the center, Schrier’s recent ad blitz suggested she now planned to pivot leftward.

Despite having recently flip-flopped in her support for President Joe Biden, Schrier recently ran an ad focused on promoting abortion and said that “we should trust women to make these decisions.”

According to Politico, thus far, 9 Democrat incumbents have spent over $3.4 million to air 14 separate ads.

The ads are an attempt to overcome conservative ads highlighting the connection between Democratic governance and the rising cost of living.
