M&M Characters to Become More ‘Inclusive’

'We took a deep look at our characters, both inside and out, and have evolved their look, personalities and backstories to be more representative of today's society... '

(Molly Bruns, Headline USAMars Inc. has announced that their M&M’s characters are being redesigned to be more “inclusive” and have more “nuanced personalities,” proving that even in candy land a woke mob full of nuts must be honored.

This campaign has been announced alongside a newer, more progressive mission “to create a world where everyone feels they belong and society is inclusive,” The Hill reported.

Part of this new mission is “changing” the looks of the M&M’s mascots.

The green M&M, who previously strutted through ads in a pair of go-go boots, will now be wearing sneakers. A description for this character on the M&M’s website says she enjoys “being a hypewoman for [her] friends.”

“I think we all win when we see more women in leading roles, so I’m happy to take on the part of supportive friend when they succeed,” the green M&M said on the promotional site.

The brown M&M will have lower heels to represent her professionalism.

The orange M&M will no longer be as anxious, but will “embrace his true self, worries and all.”

The red M&M—normally the bully of the group—will be a kinder, more sensitive character.

This rebrand was done to bring M&M’s into a “more dynamic, progressive world,” Mars said.

“We took a deep look at our characters, both inside and out, and have evolved their look, personalities and backstories to be more representative of today’s society,” a brand representative explained. “As the world changes, so do we.”

To top it off, Yahoo News reported that M&M’s is changing the color of the character’s arms and legs as well.

“All of the characters will also have prefixes removed from their names in order to focus on ‘their personalities, rather than their gender,’ the article read. “And they’ve got new poses “to be more inviting and welcoming so everyone feels as though they are a part of the crew…'”

There are a bevvy of other changes being made to the M&M’s logo, characters and more, but whether or not their commercials will continue to be unbearably annoying remains to be seen.
