(Headline USA) Parler, the conservative alternative to Twitter, announced this week that it has signed a deal with former first lady Melania Trump, who has agreed to share “exclusive communications” on the social media network.
“I am excited and inspired by free speech platforms that give direct communication to people worldwide,” the former first lady said in a statement..
“Parler has been on the forefront of utilizing Web3 technology and empowers its users to foster productive discourse,” she added.
Parler CEO George Farmer said he is excited for the company’s partnership with the former first lady and added she has brought a “new level of productivity and engagement” to the team.
“Parler is excited to take this step forward with her and continues to build out its product offering to support her professional evolution as one of the world’s leading icons,” he said.
Melania Trump still has her accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but her husband was banned from every Big Tech platform following the Jan. 6 Capitol uprising.
As a result, former president Donald Trump plans to launch his own social media company, Trump Media & Technology Group. TMTG will offer several different platforms to users looking to escape Big Tech’s censorship, including Truth Social, which will be another alternative to Twitter.
It is unclear whether Melania Trump’s partnership with Parler will affect her ability to join TM&TG’s new platforms.
“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable,” Trump said in a statement last year. “I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon.
“TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all,” Trump added. “I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech. Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”
