Leftists Blame Va. Gov.-Elect Youngkin for Blizzard that Stranded I-95 Drivers Overnight

'We started to see a lot of drivers turning their cars off to conserve gas. People running out of food and water, kids and pets holed up for so many hours... '

A snowstorm in Northern Virginia that saw 14 inches of snow on the ground has caused a 48-mile traffic jam, stranding some motorists for more than 15 hours, reported Fox News.

The traffic jam was the result of a multiple-truck accident combined with the snow. At least that’s the rational and logical explanation for the incident.

Some unhinged leftists, on the other hand, tried to blame newly-elected Gov. Glenn Youngkin, a Republican.

The only problem?

“Youngkin has yet to take office,” noted the Liberty Loft. “Beloved Democrat Ralph Northam is still in office and has neglected these people stranded on the interstate.”

In any case, the snowstorm was wicked.

“Video…shows several jack-knifed trucks and vehicles littered on the roadway as a line of traffic tries to slowly weave past them,” reported local NBC Washington. “The crash happened before noon, and there were a few minor crashes along the same treacherous stretch of I-95. No injuries have been reported, Virginia State Police said.”

The heavy snow left 400,000 residents without power, but that’s nothing compared to the motorists who are running out of fuel, water and food.

“We started to see a lot of drivers turning their cars off to conserve gas,” said former Associated Press reporter Josh Lederman, according to ABCNews. “People running out of food and water, kids and pets holed up for so many hours, people letting their pets out of the car to try to walk them on the street. And in the meantime, no signs of any emergency vehicles that we could see.”

A spokesman for the Virginiana Department of Transportation (VDOT) said that crews are working to clear the roadways so that drivers can proceed.

“We know many travelers have been stuck on Interstate 95 in our region for extraordinary periods of time over the past 24 hours, in some cases since Monday morning,” said VDOT district engineer Marcie Parker, according to WUSA 9. “This is unprecedented, and we continue to steadily move stopped trucks to make progress toward restoring lanes.”

I-95 from Exit 104 to Exit 152 remains closed with VDOT asking people to stay off the roads until they can clear the accident area.

“Callers on Tuesday reported crews in the Quantico area were finally letting traffic inch past crashed trucks — only to run into another blockage down the road,” said InsideNova.com.
