Illinois Gov. to Give Drivers Licenses to over 300K Illegal Aliens

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) A new law signed by Illinois Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker allowed nearly 300,000 illegal immigrants to become eligible for standard drivers licenses in the Midwestern state.

The governor signed HB 3882 into law last week, permitting illegal aliens to get driver licenses that are compliant with the REAL ID Act, according to Breitbart,

The state of Illinois had a program that allowed illegals to get temporary licenses that differed from those given to legal citizens and immigrants, called the Temporary Visitor Driver’s License Program.

An estimated 300,000 illegal migrants were able to acquire licenses. Under the newly signed law, all of them can switch to the standardized licenses usually reserved for citizens.

“This legislation is a significant step in eliminating the barriers to opportunity that many undocumented immigrants face,” Pritzker said in a statement. “We’re ensuring every eligible individual can obtain a driver’s license, making our roads safer, decreasing stigma, and creating more equitable systems for all.”

The law will take effect at the start of 2024.

Illinois currently has an illegal immigrant population of 680,000—and counting, as the sanctuary city of Chicago continues to unwillingly take in migrants from cities along the border.

One reason Democrats fight for driver’s licenses for illegal aliens is because Immigration and Customs Enforcement easily detain them when they are pulled over without a license.

Illegal immigrants had more than 17,500 drunk driving convictions in 2022.

Some speculated that the newly-gifted IDs will also make it easier for immigrants to vote for Democratic candidat, despite their lack of citizenship.

ICE encountered an estimated 1.2 million people crossing the southern border, with gotaways averaging 60,000 per month per government estimates.

Despite the astonishing figures, the Biden administration continues to insist the border is secure.

Several governors—particularly states those along the southern border—vehemently disagree.

“While the federal government has abdicated its duties, Republican governors stand ready to protect the U.S.-Mexico border and keep families safe,” a group of 24 governors said in support of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
