(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Testimony from Hunter Biden’s former best friend, Devon Archer, revealed that the younger Biden would routinely loop his father—then Vice President Joe Biden—into business phone calls with his foreign business partners, the New York Post reported.
Archer will testify to the House Oversight Committee to assist with the investigation into Hunter Biden’s business dealings—specifically on the involvement of the elder Biden in these meetings and how much influence he had on the business.
“We are looking forward very much to hearing from Devon Archer about all the times he has witnessed Joe Biden meeting with Hunter Biden’s overseas business partners when he was vice president, including on speakerphone,” said committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.).
The committee is particularly interested in meetings with officials from Burisma in Dubai.
At the meeting, senior executive Vadym Pozharskyi and Burisma’s owner Mykola Zlochevsky asked Hunter if he would call his father. The committee expects Archer to explain that Hunter acquiesced and the Ukranian businessmen and Biden exchanged pleasantries in a short phone call.
Investigators have yet to discover the reasoning behind the apparently urgent phone call.
Three days after the call, VP Biden—who was in charge of America’s relationship with Ukraine at the time—was due to fly to Kyiv to address the issue of corruption within the country’s parliament.
Hunter reportedly used his father’s position to leverage business deals and impress potential investors. Archer testified that Hunter called his father at least a dozen times in the midst of professional business deals and events.
Tony Bobulinski, another former business partner of Hunter’s, recollected the younger Biden pulling the same stunt at a meeting by the pool at the Los Angeles Chateau Marmont.
“I am also aware of other Biden family business associates confirming that Joe would take phone calls from Hunter in the middle of business meetings and would weigh in via speakerphone,” said Bobulinski. “The American people don’t fully appreciate yet the key role Joe Biden played in the Biden family global influence peddling … I would equate it to a chairman’s role in a traditional business structure.”
According to sources close to Archer, he opted to testify because he believed it to be his “civic duty.”
Reports also indicated that Archer and his family received death threats and warnings after news broke that he agreed to testify.
