House GOP May Finally Get Serious about Defunding Woke NPR

(Headline USAConservatives are re-upping their demand for Republicans to defund NPR after the taxpayer-funded media outlet published woke “porn” for children last week.

In an op-ed for Fox News, conservative commentator David Marcus pointed out that stripping NPR of its taxpayer dollars should be an obvious issue that the new House GOP can rally around. He cited a recent article published by NPR and written by Maia Kobabe, the author of the leftist, sexually explicit children’s book, Gender Queer.

In the NPR essay, Kobabe defended the use of sexually explicit graphic images in her children’s book, arguing that they could have been even more pornographic.

“The topic of gender touches on identity… and it touches on sexuality,” Kobabe claimed. “And it’s hard to fully explain I think how a gender identity can impact every facet of life as an adult without touching at least a little bit on sexuality. And I wanted to at least not to like shy away from that.”

Marcus argued that if Kobabe wanted to “promote porn for kids” in a privately-owned outlet, “that’s their own perverted business.”

“But for taxpayers to fund an NPR that is actively obfuscating the truth of this story is beyond the pale and must stop,” he added.

This is hardly the first time NPR has pushed leftist wokeism on the taxpayers’ dime. In September, the publication celebrated three transgender activists infiltrating Christian churches, bragging about how the activists were corrupting the churches’ theology.

One of the gender activists highlighted by NPR is Shannon TL Kerns, a woman who identifies as a man. Kerns is the “first openly transgender ‘man’” ordained in the “Old Catholic Church,” a denomination that left the Catholic Church in the 1960s.

Paraphrasing Kerns, NPR wrote, “In Genesis, angels come to Sodom and Gomorrah, and the townspeople threaten to rape them. The destruction of those cities is often seen as God’s condemnation of homosexuality. But it could be read as a lesson in welcoming the stranger.”
