(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Democrat Gov. Katie Hobbs, D-Ariz., will continue to bus illegal immigrants to Washington D.C., despite previously lobbing criticism at former Republican Gov. Doug Ducey for taking similar action.
Hobbs vocally condemned the effort, calling it a waste of taxpayer funds.
“It is not providing any real solutions for Arizona or for these migrants. Again, wasting taxpayer dollars and playing politics with people’s lives,” Hobbs told ABC 15 Arizona in November.
Despite the clear hypocrisy on Hobbs’s part, Arizona residents near the border expressed their approval with her decision to continue the policy.
”I’m thankful for the support regardless of where it comes from,” said Yuma County Supervisor Jonathan Lines told the Daily Caller.
The state of Arizona is facing several crises as a surplus of immigrants continues making its way across the border.
“We have declared a health emergency in the county and the two biggest cities, our local community hospital has not been reimbursed for the more than 23 million directly tie to the illegals flooding our border,” Lines said.
”This president’s policies have had detrimental effects on our community that already suffers from the nation’s highest unemployment rate,” he concluded.
Arizona started busing illegal aliens to the capital in May, following the example of Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, who keeps sending illegals crossing into his state to Washington, New York City, Chicago and Philadelphia.
Former Gov. Ducey took a lot of heat for his attempts to protect his state’s southern border, making efforts to close the gaps of the wall with shipping containers. The Biden administration sued Arizona for this attempt, calling it “trespassing.”
Those who keep up the practice argue that they are simply assisting the immigrants in getting to their final destinations.
Washington, D.C., officials claimed that they will be welcoming migrant children into their public schools, despite the possibility that the schools are not ready to accept such a great influx of students.
Record numbers of immigrants continue to cross the border under the Biden administration’s watch, despite officials constant insistence that securing the country’s perimeter is “well on it’s way” and it should no longer be a matter of public concern.
