Jesse Watters has been named host of FOX News 7 p.m. hour, the network announced. Jesse Watters Primetime will premiere on Jan. 24. Watters will remain a co-host of The Five and will no longer be hosting his weekend show Watters’ World.
Watters grabbed headlines last month when he encouraged conservatives at a Turning Point USA conference to confront the likes of Anthony Fauci and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., for their leftist leanings and hypocrisy. He explained how to execute a “set up” question and then of for the rhetorical “kill shot,” reported the Daily Wire. Leftists flipped out and roundly called for Watters to be axed, but Fox News stood by Watters.
In making the announcement, Suzanne Scott, CEO of FOX News Media, said, “Jesse’s versatility and hosting acumen has grown exponentially over the last five years, and he has developed a deep connection to the audience through two hit shows The Five and Watters’ World. We look forward to watching him expand his connection even further through this new solo weeknight hour.”
“I’m thrilled to take on this new challenge and am grateful for the opportunity,” Watters added.
Watters started at Fox in 2002 as a production assistant. His on-camera debut was in 2003 as a man-on-the-street, interviewing people about a range of topics, including politics and pop culture.
Watters is also an author, with his Amazon best seller titled “How I Saved the World.”
Watters has become an increasingly loud voice on the right, speaking at conferences for Turning Point USA, and hosting a variety of conservative icons on his show Watters World, including Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy and former President Donald Trump.
His show, The Five, was the highest rated program on cable news in the 4th quarter of 2021, with 3,296,000 total viewers. It is the first time in cable news history that a non-primetime program has achieved this milestone.
There has been no indication of the content that Jesse Watters Primetime will be showing.
