Fla. Investigates ‘Drag Queen Christmas’ for Exposing Kids to Sexually Explicit Material

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation has undertaken a criminal investigation of a Christmas-themed drag queen event that allegedly exposed children to sexual degeneracy, the Floridian Press reported.

The event, “Drag Queen Christmas 2022,” was part of a 36-show tour that predominantly targeted southern red states, including four stops in Florida, where it was slated to end on Dec. 29.

Among the tour stops was a Dec. 26 event at the Broward Center for Performing Arts Center that encouraged minors as young as 10 to attend.

Soon after the event, DeSantis vowed to look into the matter in search of “potential criminal liability,” according to a statement from press secretary Bryan Griffin.

“Exposing children to sexually explicit activity is a crime in Florida, and such action violates the Department’s licensing standards for operating a business and holding a liquor license,” Griffin wrote. “The Department will share any collected evidence with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for potential criminal liability.”

According to previous reports, Florida DeSantis supporter Chris Nelson attended the event, noting that the organization showed “sexually explicit” content to young children and adults alike.

The drag queens allegedly presented a story titled “Screwdolph the Red-Nippled Reindeer.”

Nelson shouted out loud opposition to the performers, telling them that “this is not right,” emphasizing that “it is not right for children to be at this thing.”

He was then escorted out of the show.

“After noticing MULTIPLE children in the audience at the explicit Drag Queen Christmas in Ft Lauderdale I called out performer Nina West for inviting and allowing children to come to her sexually explicit shows,” Nelson said.

After deputies threatened to arrest him, he noted that they “should arrest [the performers] for having children in here.”
