FBI Defies McCarthy: Fails to Release Damning Biden Bribery File

'At today’s staff briefing with FBI officials, the FBI again did not produce the unclassified record subpoenaed by Chairman Comer...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) The FBI has defied demands from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., to turn over a document that allegedly contains evidence of a bribery scheme involving Joe Biden, then Obama’s vice president.

In a closed-door meeting on Monday, FBI officials failed to provide House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., an FB-1023 report that details a “criminal scheme” about a plot to sell foreign policy decisions, the Washington Examiner reported Monday.

“At today’s staff briefing with FBI officials, the FBI again did not produce the unclassified record subpoenaed by Chairman Comer,” a committee spokeswoman told the Examiner. “The Oversight Committee will announce next steps soon.”

The House Oversight issued a subpoena demanding the document, which the FBI declined. A spokesperson told Comer that the agency is “committed to beginning the constitutionally mandated accommodation process,” also adding the FBI “would be pleased to coordinate with” Comer’s staff about potentially accommodating the request “without violating our law enforcement and national security obligations.”

Comer slammed the FBI’s delay in a Friday press statement. “The FBI’s delay in producing a single, unclassified record is unacceptable,” he said, later adding the agency’s apparent attempt to protect Democrats.

“The FBI’s well-documented failures in politically sensitive investigations have eroded public confidence over the past few years,” Comer continued. “Just a few days ago, the Durham Report found that the FBI relied on unverified and inaccurate information as the foundation of its debunked Russia collusion probe.”

McCarthy said in an interview with Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures that he was confident FBI Director Christopher Wray would provide House Republicans with the infamous report after a phone call.

“[Wray] hasn’t even acknowledged whether he has this document, but he hasn’t even provided it. I explained to the director that we will do everything in our power and we have the jurisdiction over the FBI that we have the right to see this document,” McCarthy told host Maria Bartiromo, also adding, “I believe after this call, we will get this document.”
