Dominion Hires Private Investigators to Find and Serve Lawsuit on Sidney Powell

'For the past several months Ms. Powell has had to take extra precautions concerning her security...'

Dominion Voting Systems hired private investigators to track down pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell so the company can serve her with a defamation lawsuit, according to a recent court filing.

Powell has gone to extraordinary lengths to avoid being served with the lawsuit, Dominion claimed in a recent filing, alleging that she “evaded” the lawsuit for weeks, forcing Dominion “to incur unnecessary expenses for extraordinary measures to effect service, including hiring private investigators and pursuing Powell across state lines.”

On Monday, Powell filed a motion seeking more time to respond to the lawsuit, which accuses her of making defamatory statements about Dominion and its role in the 2020 presidential election.

Powell’s attorney, Howard Kleinhendler, denied that his client was deliberately avoiding Dominion’s lawsuit, saying she “regularly travels as part of her work.”

“Unfortunately, for the past several months Ms. Powell has had to take extra precautions concerning her security, which may have made serving her more difficult,” Kleinhendler said in a statement to Politico. “Ms. Powell had no reason to evade service as she looks forward to defending herself in court.”

Dominion filed a lawsuit against Powell in December, demanding that she pay $1.3 billion in damages.

“Powell’s wild accusations are demonstrably false. … The viral disinformation campaign has irreparably damaged Dominion’s reputation,” the company’s lawsuit said. “Dominion brings this action to set the record straight, to vindicate the company’s rights under civil law, to recover compensatory and punitive damages, to seek a narrowly tailored injunction, and to stand up for itself and its employees.”

Dominion has also sued former President Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, and threatened to take Trump ally and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell to court if he continued to repeat Powell’s allegations.

“Let me say this: Mike Lindell is begging to be sued, and at some point we may well oblige him,” Dominion spokesman Michael Steel said.
