(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) The Biden Justice Department again targeted former President Donald Trump’s First Amendment rights, this time in response to a social media post the former president made on Truth Social that federal law agents deemed a danger to democracy.
In a court filing late Friday night, special counsel Jack Smith’s Trump-hunters sent a red alert to the judge overseeing the J6 indictment case. The prosecutors warned Judge Tanya Chutkan that Trump was making statements that “could have a harmful chilling effect” on their efforts to convict and jail the leading GOP candidate likely to challenge their boss’s campaign for another term.
The filing was in response to Trump’s post on Truth Social:
“All the proposed order seeks to prevent is the improper dissemination or use of discovery materials, including to the public,” Smith’s gunsels wrote to the Obama/Biden-appointed federal judge who had previously worked at the same Democrat-friendly law firm with the president’s embattled son.
In their emergency letter to Chutkan, prosecutors wrote that Trump “has previously issued public statements on social media regarding witnesses, judges, attorneys, and others associated with legal matters pending against him. … And in recent days, regarding this case, the defendant has issued multiple posts—either specifically or by implication—including the following, which the defendant posted just hours ago.”
Prosecutors claimed the Truth Social post referred to players involved in the J6 case, which on Thursday saw Trump plead not guilty to all charges.
Smith’s prosecutorial mind-reading skills came up short against reality, and once again revealed the Biden administration’s contempt for the First Amendment, said a Trump spokesperson.
“The Truth post cited is the definition of political speech, and was in response to the RINO, China-loving, dishonest special interest groups and Super PACs, like the ones funded by the Koch brothers and the Club for No Growth,” the Trump team said in a statement Friday night.
Not to let facts or reality interfere with a mission to croak Trump, mainstream media used the Biden DOJ’s twisted version of Trump’s social media post as another weapon to deploy. MSNBC proposed a perfect solution, with one of its pundits calling for Trump to be jailed.
“Free speech is one thing, but this is over the line,” tweeted MSNBC legal analyst and former Obama-tapped U.S. attorney Joyce Alene. “As a prosecutor, I’d be sorely tempted to make a motion to revoke Trump’s pre-trial bond & put him in custody. Let him explain it to the judge.”
The left-leaning Independent’s White House correspondent, Andrew Feinberg, also embraced the DOJ’s talking points, while ignoring the reality behind Trump’s post, tweeting, “This certainly sounds like a threat against prosecutors and/or witnesses.”
