UPDATE: DOJ Blinks, Will Allow Devon Archer to Testify on Hunter Allegations

'I believe this is another violation of the law. This is obstruction of justice...'

UPDATE: After threatening to arrest Devon Archer before he was scheduled to testify Monday about his dealings as Hunter Biden’s former business partner, the Justice Department has agreed to let Archer appear before Congress.

In a letter to District Judge Ronnie Abrams, the DOJ wrote that “for the avoidance of all doubt, the Government requests that any surrender date, should the Court order one, be scheduled to occur after the defendant’s Congressional
testimony is completed.”

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., made serious allegations against the DOJ, accusing them of attempting to obstruct justice in the investigation into the Biden family’s financial dealings by ordering the arrest of a key witness scheduled to testify on Monday.

In an interview with Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo, Comer voiced his concerns about the timing and motivations behind a letter from the DOJ, which he called an attempt to silence Devon Archer, a former close business partner of embattled First Son Hunter Biden. Archer is expected to serve a one-year sentence over a fraud conviction.

“It’s odd that it was issued on a Saturday and it’s odd that it’s right before he’s scheduled to come in to have an opportunity to speak in front of the House Oversight Committee and tell the American people the truth about what really went on with Burisma,” Comer said. “I don’t know if this is a coincidence, Maria, or if this is another example of the weaponization of the Department of Justice.”

Comer’s comments came after Miranda Devine, a New York Post columnist and author, took to Twitter to announce that the DOJ sought to jail Archer ahead of his Monday hearing before the Oversight Committee.

Specifically, Devine said, “US attorney in the SDNY Damian Williams issued a menacing letter yesterday – Saturday – telling Judge Abrams to order Archer to go to jail immediately to serve a one year sentence for his fraud conviction.”

Reacting to the DOJ letter, Comer expressed worries that the Biden legal team was resorting to intimidating witnesses and discouraging cooperation with the investigation.

He alleged, “The lengths to which the Biden legal team has gone to try to intimidate our witnesses, to coordinate with the Department of Justice, and to certainly coordinate with the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee to encourage people not to cooperate with our investigation… is very troubling.”

Comer accused the DOJ and Biden allies of attempting to thwart the Oversight Committee’s investigation into the bank records of the Biden family. In previous press releases, Comer accused the Biden family of receiving millions of dollars from foreign entities.

According to Comer, these actions were highly questionable and bordered on obstruction of justice. Specifically, Comer asserted, “I believe this is another violation of the law. This is obstruction of justice.” He further raised concerns about the potential politicization of the DOJ, questioning its impartiality and independence.
