Three-Dozen Democrats Beg Biden to Relinquish Sole Control of Nukes

'While any president would presumably consult with advisors before ordering a nuclear attack, there is no requirement to do so...'

Although one would be hard pressed to hear anyone on the Left overtly acknowledge the obvious cognitive failures of President Joe Biden, their actions are speaking louder than their words.

In a letter to Biden on Monday, three dozen Democrat members of Congress asked him to hand over his control of the nuclear arsenal.

“We write to respectfully request that you consider modifying the decision-making process the United States uses in its command and control of nuclear forces,” it began.

“… While any president would presumably consult with advisors before ordering a nuclear attack, there is no requirement to do so,” it continued. “The military is obligated to carry out the order if they assess it is legal under the laws of war. Under the current posture of U.S. nuclear forces, that attack would happen in minutes.”

The leftists’ letter contained a considerable amount of puffery and a few veiled barbs at former president Donald Trump.

However, as revealed during Trump’s presidency, deep-state resistance operatives working within the White House rarely felt compelled to carry out their obligations under the law if they disagreed with the Trump.

The proposals—requiring approval from the vice president, House speaker, Pentagon, Congress and a special council of congressional leaders—could prevent the paranoid partisans’ “Doctor Strangelove” scenario from occurring, but it could also create a dangerous obstacle by delaying the threat of a strike indefinitely in red tape.

Such a set of restrictions would, undoubtedly embolden America’s most dangerous adversaries—including China, Russia, Iran and North Korea—to behave more aggressively than they might otherwise.

Naturally, conservative Twitter users responded with sheer delight and mockery. While some took aim at Biden, many pointed to the absurdity of the congressional Democrats in prioritizing such a far-fetched conspiracy theory.

But others expressed concern that the letter could prove devastating during upcoming elections, including the 2022 midterms.
