(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) Tales of horror and decadence commingling with politics are nothing new, but few cases for sheer gruesomeness can top that of Democrat mega-donor Ed Buck, who was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in prison.
Buck was found guilty on charges that he “supplied and personally injected gay men with methamphetamine in exchange for sex, leading to two deaths and multiple other overdoses,” reported the Guardian.
The sentencing comes after Buck was found guilty last year of two counts of distribution of methamphetamine resulting in death, four counts of distribution of methamphetamine, one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises and two counts of enticement to travel in interstate commerce for prostitution, according to CNN.
A former model who acquired substantial wealth, Buck was a leftist benefactor who supported LGBT causes and animal rights issues, giving more than $500,000 to alt-left groups and Democrat politicians.
Buck “engaged in a pattern of soliciting men to consume drugs that Buck provided and perform sexual acts at Buck’s apartment” — a practice described in the document as “party and play,” according to a 2019 indictment.
Two men fatally overdosed on drugs Buck administered at his West Hollywood apartment from 2017-2019 and it wasn’t until a third man overdosed twice at the apartment that Buck was arrested and charged, the Guardian reported. All three victims were black.
“This defendant preyed upon vulnerable victims — men who were drug-dependent and often without homes — to feed an obsession that led to death and misery,” United States Attorney Tracy L. Wilkison said, according to the Associated Press.
“Mr. Buck continues to pose a clear danger to society.”
Buck was able to avoid arrest and escape prosecution for more than two years after one of his victim’s death, which family and community members, led by leftist activist Jasmyne Cannick, claimed was because of his political ties, wealth and privilege as a white male, the AP reported.
