(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) More than 60 woke corporations signed onto an advertisement that calls on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to rescind his decision to classify “transitioning” procedures for children as child abuse, American Greatness reported.
On the same day that the advertisement ran, Texas District Court Judge Amy Clark Meachum issued a temporary injunction against Abbott’s order, according to the Washington Post.
Some of America’s most powerful corporations, including Apple, Google, Facebook, and PayPal, signed the letter that appeared in the Dallas Morning News on March 11.
“The recent attempt to criminalize a parent for helping their transgender child access medically necessary, age-appropriate healthcare in the state of Texas goes against the values of our companies,” the ad stated.
“We call on public leaders — in Texas and across the country — to abandon efforts to write discrimination into law and policy.”
The “medically necessary” and “age-appropriate” procedures that these companies want to protect include so-called hormone replacement therapy, which acts as chemical castration, mastectomy, and genital removal.
“It’s not just wrong,” the companies said in the ad. “It has an impact on our employees, our customers, their families, and our work.”
Ikea, Johnson & Johnson, Capital One, and Electronic Arts also sponsored the ad.
The Human Rights Campaign, a radical Leftist organization, organized the advertisement campaign against Abbott’s order.
“Texas state leaders are forcing parents of transgender kids to decide between abandoning their lives, quitting their jobs, and leaving the state, or fostering a safe, inclusive environment for their child,” HRC Interim President Joni Madison said in a statement.
In an executive order, Abbott directed the Department of Family and Protective Services to “conduct a thorough and prompt investigation” of parents who subject their children, who they call “transgender,” to these abusive treatments.
Abbott also designated public and private officials, like teachers and nurses, as mandatory reporters, so that they will face personal consequences if they fail to report child sexual abuse.
