CNN Labels Freedom Convoy a ‘Threat to Democracy’ Akin to ‘Sedition’

'Just think of the language. I know it sounds familiar to you. A threat to democracy. An insurrection, sedition... '

(Headline USA) CNN finally decided to cover the Freedom Convoy of anti-vaccine mandate truckers in Canada, only to smear the protest as “sedition” that poses a “threat to democracy.”

Hundreds of big rig truckers joined by thousands of other Canadian citizens have shut down Ottawa, Canada to protest the government’s draconian COVID-19 restrictions and mandates. They have vowed not to leave until Prime Minister Justin Trudeau lifts all restrictions and mandates.

During a segment about the protest this week, CNN host John King adopted Canadian officials’ characterization of the Freedom Convoy as a “nationwide insurrection.”

“The state of emergency in place in Ottawa where the police chief says COVID protests are ‘a nationwide insurrection driven by madness.’ Thousands of Canadians, you see the pictures there, protesting vaccine mandates,” King said.

“It started with the so-called Freedom Convoy led by truckers protesting a new mandate requiring vaccines in order to enter the country,” King said.

CNN correspondent Paula Newton agreed, claiming the protest is akin to “sedition.”

“Just think of the language. I know it sounds familiar to you. A threat to democracy. An insurrection, sedition,” she bleated.

“I want to be clear things have quieted down a bit, but that does not take away from the sit-in that’s going on right in front of the national parliament,” she said.

The Freedom Convoy truckers have received plenty of support from Republicans in the U.S., including from former President Donald Trump.

“The Canadian truckers, you’ve been reading about it… They’re resisting bravely these lawless mandates,” Trump said recently.

“They’re doing more to defend American freedom than our own leaders, by far,” he said. “And we want those great Canadian truckers to know that we are with them all the way.”
