CNN’s Don Lemon Disavows Rioting Because It’s Helping Trump’s Polling

'It is the only thing right now that is sticking...'

CNN’s Don Lemon warned the Democratic Party that it should condemn the violent rioting that is still happening in some parts of the country—not because property is being destroyed and innocent lives are being taken as a result, but because the rioting is helping President Donald Trump’s polling.

After another night of deadly violence in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Lemon admitted during a Tuesday segment with fellow CNN anchor Chris Cuomo that ignoring riots in these cities is a “blind spot” for Democratic leaders.

“It’s showing up in the polling. It’s showing up in focus groups. It is the only thing right now that is sticking,” Lemon said. “The riots and the protests have become indistinguishable.”

He warned that rather than fizzle out, the riots had gained strength through the Left’s tacit—and oftentimes explicit—approval of the criminal activity.

“I think Democrats are ignoring this problem or hoping that it will go away, and it’s not going to go away,” Lemon said, adding that presidential candidate Joe Biden should address the riots directly.

“The problem is not going to be fixed by [Election Day],” said Lemon. “But what they can do, and I think maybe Joe Biden may be afraid to do it … he’s got to address it. He’s got to come out and talk about it. These are rioters, not protesters. They’re criminals.”

Democrats have been unwilling to disavow the violence and destruction taking place in Democratic-run cities, which Trump has used to his advantage.
