(Headline USA) Disgraced CNN host Chris Cuomo reportedly applied to be a firefighter in the Hamptons, New York shortly after being fired from the network.
The Daily Beast reported this week that Cuomo submitted an application to his local fire department last December, but he ultimately withdrew his application after meeting with the fire chiefs and deciding that he wouldn’t have enough time to fulfill the role.
According to the report, Cuomo “balked” at the commitment the job would have required.
“It’s a very time-consuming thing. There are monthly meetings and drills and you have to meet a percentage of your calls,” East Hampton Fire Department Chief Duane Forrester explained. “That’s why we don’t have many celebrities.”
Cuomo was fired from CNN late last year after it was revealed that he used his position at the network to help his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, respond to allegations of sexual harassment.
He has since filed a lawsuit against the network, demanding that it pay out the rest of his contract.
Instead of becoming a firefighter, Cuomo has apparently decided to try his hand at journalism again, publishing a video last week from Ukraine about the ongoing war against Russia.
“What is happening right now in Ukraine is bad, and America should be paying a lot more attention,” Cuomo wrote in an Instagram post. “I went to the eastern front. Shelling is intense and devastating. Why so little coverage here?”
Cuomo has been teasing his comeback for the past few months, posting on Saturday that he would “show you what you’re not seeing from Ukraine.”
His website similarly says “something is coming,” and contained the headline “Free Agent.”
“Shelling is destroying homes, schools, adults kids … often with banned weapons, say Ukrainians, showing us cluster bombs and describing mines that are tearing through young and old,” he continued.
“Warfare is like WW2. This is what Ukraine is desperate for: High Mobility Artillery Rocket System. They are essential to stop shelling. But they have far too few to counter what is coming.”
