(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Tara Reade, who has levied credible accusations that President Joe Biden sexually assaulted her 30 years ago, announced at a surprise press conference Tuesday that she has fled to Russia amidst fears of retaliation.
Speaking to Russian media, Reade said she travelled to Moscow to promote her book. She said she decided to stay when “it became clear that going back might be a problem.”
Reade was light on specifics about the threats she’s received. But her move comes on the heels of her saying earlier this month that she feared being targeted for reprisals by the Biden regime.
“I want to make something clear. If something happens to me, all roads lead to Joe Biden,” Reade wrote on Twitter on May 7. “Joe Biden and DNC political machine threats, bullying, and intimidation over the last three years will not work. I am not suicidal. I should not be under investigation nor am I a foreign agent. I am a private citizen.”
She also said her decision was prompted partially by a phone conversation with Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who expressed concern about not being able to protect whistleblowers. Reade recently was interviewed by Gaetz and Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene, R-Ga., about her allegations, and said she’ll still cooperate with any U.S. investigation into Biden’s sexual crimes.
Reade said she’ll apply for Russian citizenship.
“I’d like to apply for citizenship in Russia. I don’t know what will happen with that, but I promise to be a good citizen and to move forward with my life in a positive way,” she said.
Reade’s accusations against Biden were spotlighted in the media in the run-up to the 2020 election. She said the sitting president sexually assaulted her in a senate building on Capitol Hill in 1993, when she worked for him as a senate staffer.
“His hands were down my shirt and up my skirt,” she said in an interview at the time.
Reade also filed a police report in April of 2020 with the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, but the matter has since been dropped.
While Reade’s accusations have never been formally investigated, it was revealed in December that the DOJ has probed Reade over her accusations.
According to the Daily Caller, the DOJ asked Twitter to testify before a grand jury on Dec. 16 of 2020 and provide “all subscriber information” from Reade’s accounts.
Reade said at the time that she doesn’t “know why” her Twitter accounts were of interest to the FBI.
“Other than coming forward about Joe Biden, there would be no reason for them to do that,” she said.
