Border Patrol Agents Confront Mayorkas In Heated Exchange

'Look, it's worse now than it, frankly, has been in at least 20 years, if not ever... '

(Headline USA) Border Patrol agents confronted Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during a meeting in which Mayorkas admitted the Biden administration has made their jobs more difficult, according to Townhall.

Mayorkas met with a number of Border Patrol agents in the Yuma Sector on Wednesday and conceded that the high influx of illegal immigration does not seem to be getting any better.

“The job has not gotten any easier over the last few months and it was very, very difficult throughout 2021,” he said.

“I know apprehending families and kids is not what you signed up to do. And now we got a composition that is changing even more with Cubans, Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, and the like, it just gets more difficult,” he said, according to an audio recording of the conversation.

One agent asked Mayorkas how he can claim to support border security while enforcing the Biden administration’s loose immigration policies.

“I know the policies of this administration are not particularly popular with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, but that’s the reality and let’s see what we can do within that framework,” Mayorkas said, adding that he is working to ensure agents have the funding and equipment necessary to do their jobs.

The agent replied they have been hearing that answer for years, and then turned his back on Mayorkas.

“Let me just say, you can turn your back on me but I won’t turn my back on you,” Mayorkas said.

The agent then accused Mayorkas of turning his back on Border Patrol agents first.

Another agent told Mayorkas that it is “demoralizing” to see so many politicians, including those in the Biden administration, “demonize” Border Patrol agents when they’re just trying to do their jobs.

The situation was much better under former President Donald Trump, a different agent added, because at least then “everyone was doing their jobs.”

“Look, it’s worse now than it, frankly, has been in at least 20 years, if not ever,” Mayorkas said of the border crisis.
