(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) Proving once again that the Biden administration and the bureaucrats that run his medical tyranny apparatus have no regard for actual science or the well-being of children, the federal Head Start program is still mandating masks for children who attend its preschools and childcare centers.
The toddlers from mostly low-income families who attend the Head Start programs are still being tormented, even though the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention admitted in its latest guidance that mandatory masking is not needed in almost all cases and its agents won’t be enforcing the policy.
Further, it has roundly been accepted since early in the pandemic that children were not susceptible to COVID-19 and schools, especially preschool and elementary, weren’t sites that spawned increased community spread of the virus.
None of which seemed to matter to the bureaucrats at Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees Head Start. In a statement to the New York Times, HHS officials “acknowledged that the current guidelines contradict those of the C.D.C. but said that centers are not being checked for compliance on masking.”
The masking mandates haven’t changed for Head Start because updating the rules would be “a lengthy process,” officials argued of their reasoning for continuing to torment toddlers.
The mask mandate for kids, as well as for adults and teachers with Head Start, is still being enforced at the local level because the “culture of compliance” has left program directors with “little choice but to follow the guidelines strictly,” reported the Times.
“Head Start programs have been short-circuited,” Tommy Sheridan, the association’s deputy director, said. “This mandate on masking and vaccines has hurt a lot of programs. It is more of a crisis that is now feeling like a looming catastrophe.”
Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office slammed the illogical and damaging Head Start mandate, which Florida, along with 24 other states, sued the Biden administration to prevent from being implemented.
“Governor DeSantis will not allow federal bureaucrats to muzzle children in Florida,” DeSantis press secretary Bryan Griffin told Fox News.
“It is unacceptable that the Biden administration would continue to do this to children, and bizarre that they would do so against their own CDC’s guidance.”
