(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) President Joe Biden praised Vice President Kamala Harris for doing a “good job” ensuring the security of America’s southernmost border on Monday, just a month after U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that record numbers of migrants crossed into the country in 2022.
“Do you think Kamala Harris is doing a good job with the border?” a reporter asked Biden outside the White House.
“Yes, she is,” Biden responded.
According to the Daily Caller, Harris recently made an announcement that she will be addressing the “root causes” of immigration, and secured $1 billion in private sector funding for the investigation, as well as clean energy development, technical support and labor training.
“These investments have created jobs, these investments have increased access to the financial system, including to the internet,” Harris said. “These investments have allowed small businesses, which have the potential, not only in the United States, but around the world, and in particular this region, have the potential to really thrive if they have access to financing.”
This announcement comes eight months after her last public comments on the issue of the border. Her last conference on the topic also revolved around the “root causes” of immigration, and she acquired $2 billion in funding to address the same issue.
The veep was appointed as the border czar in March 2021 by the president, who said “it’s not her full responsibility and job, but she’s leading the effort.” Harris, apparently, took those words to heart and has done very little to even limit the influx of illegal immigrants rushing into the states.
Harris did not join Biden on his first visit to the border in January. In the second half of 2022, Harris turned what little focus she had on the border to left-wing issues like abortion access and diversity.
She also focused on diplomatic meetings with foreign politicians in the last half of 2022, meeting with officials from Mexico, France, South Korea, South Africa, Moldova, Thailand, the Philippines, Moldova, Nigeria, Guyana, Canada, Australia, Japan, Poland, Jamaica and Lithuania.
Harris also hosted and spoke at events for the National Space Council, stumped for the Inflation Reduction Act and promoted climate and LGBT initiatives.
