POLLS: Biden’s Anti-MAGA Demagoguery Backfired Spectacularly

'Right now, Democrats are pounding the table...'

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) President Joe Biden’s efforts to wage a direct attack on supporters of the MAGA movement has backfired, according to a report from Just the News.

During a shocking Labor Day weekend address in early September, the far-left president’s demagoguery reached a low-point with a formal address to the nation at Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, now commonly referred to as the “Red Speech” or “Red Rally.”

“As I stand here tonight equality and democracy are under assault,” Biden said in the speech. “Too much of what’s happening in our country today is not normal. Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”

Backed by a military sentry and a blood-red backdrop, Biden’s tone and optics quickly evoked comparisons to some of history’s worst dictators, including notorious Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

Nonetheless, Biden refused to back off and proceeded to double down on the tone-deaf rhetorical attacks with other Democrats following suit.

Just the News cited a series of polls showing that Americans strongly disapproved of the attempt to label “ultra-MAGA” supporters of former President Donald Trump as “semi-fascist” and accuse them of threatening democracy while showing little self awareness of his own authoritarian tendencies.

According to The Hill, which analyzed one Harvard-backed poll, 60% of those surveyed found Biden’s speech to be “divisive,” breaking one of his major campaign promises and, to a large extent, his only political mandate to help bridge the partisan divide following Trump’s presidency.

And the Center Square reported on a survey by the conservative Convention of the States Action PAC that found 62.4% of independents considered the speech a “a dangerous escalation in rhetoric [that was] designed to incite conflict amongst Americans.”

In another poll by the Trafalgar group, 74% of Hispanics said Biden went too far.

Just the News noted that the poll was released just two days before Democrats again doubled down on their dubious attack with a vote from the House’s partisan Jan. 6 committee  to subpoena Trump.

Many see the maneuvers, including the series of made-for-TV congressional hearings on the U.S. Capitol uprising, not only as divisive and dangerous, but also as part of a cynical and desperate political ploy by Democrats to dupe and distract the populous from the true kitchen-table issues that threaten to punish the president’s party in the midterm elections just three weeks away.

Apart from abortion—an issue that has already lost steam since the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade earlier this year—nearly all of the top polling concerns relate to things that have been major failures under Biden.

Some analysts, including the Daily Wire’s Joseph Curl, have begun to note the old courtroom adage passed on to lawyers: If the law is on your side, you pound the law. If the facts are on your side, you pound the facts. If neither is on your side, you pound the table.

“Right now, Democrats are pounding the table,” Curl wrote.
