Ark. Gov. Sanders Denounces ‘White Privilege’ Survey for Teachers

'We will teach kids how to think, not what to think...'

(Abdul–Rahman Oladimeji Bello, Headline USA) Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders blasted a school district that gave high school teachers a “white privilege” survey to fill out in February.

The survey also compelled Caucasian teachers to reject any so-called privilege associated with being white, a core tenet of the controversial doctrine known as Critical Race Theory.

The survey, dubbed “Cultural Competency Continuum: Knowledge, Behaviors, and Dispositions for Educators,” was handed out to the teachers in a mandatory training organized by the school, Fox News reported

Reacting to this survey, the newly elected Sanders—who previously served as press secretary for then-President Donald Trump—told Fox News that such “CRT and indoctrination” would not be tolerated in public schools under her administration.

“We’ve already reached out to the district to ensure no teacher is forced to sign this pledge,” she said.

“We’re making sure it doesn’t happen again,” she added. “We will teach kids how to think, not what to think.”

A letter from Fayetteville Public Schools Superintendent John L. Colbert noted that this survey could have violated the governor’s ban on critical race theory.

He stated that Fayetteville Public Schools would no longer share the survey and would review future developmental materials more appropriately.

“The survey was not required or collected, but it was used as a self-reflection tool,” Colbert said in his letter.

A Mom’s for Liberty group received pictures of this four-section survey from a teacher and shared them online.

In a section titled “Analyze and Align,” the survey asked if the teachers refused to accept any privileges associated with “white racial identity” and if they “advocate for cultural competency and social justice effectively and professionally.”

The survey also asked if they knew of their privileges and stereotypes in another section called “Awaken and Assess.”

However, the Moms for Liberty chapter called out the school district via a tweet for the CRT displayed in the survey.

The group tweeted, “This survey does not measure IF a teacher is racist and privileged but rather how far down the racist and privileged continuum their answers rate them.

“If there was any question about the presence of CRT in our district, this survey removes all doubt,” the group concluded.
