Antifa Brawl over Illegals Erupts in NY, Weeks After Ex-Gov. Warned of Revolt

'Antifa had been sending out emails and texts all weekend...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) A violent brawl between illegal immigration protesters and Antifa counter-protesters broke out in New York City, amid the growing influx of migrants allegedly seeking shelter in the city.

The clash erupted just weeks after former New York Gov. David Paterson warned of potential revolts due to the influx of undocumented immigrants and the lack of a comprehensive federal response.

As reported by Fox News on Monday, the clash centered around the contentious launch of another immigrant-exclusive shelter in Staten Island, with Curtis Sliwa, a former candidate for mayor and founder of the NYC-based Guardian Angels, demanding NYC Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, house the migrants at the mayor’s mansion.

“Antifa had been sending out emails and texts all weekend, saying that they would be there to smash the xenophobes, including me and Eric Adams,” Curtis told Fox News on Monday. “Their whole goal was to smash the xenophobes.”

The clash occurred against the backdrop of increasing tensions over the reckless surge of migrants arriving in the city. Former Gov. Paterson, a Democrat, predicted last week that a migrant-driven conflict between cities and the federal government over the uncontrolled influx of illegal aliens could lead to a revolt.

“It could in some ways backfire when other cities have the same problem as New York City,“ Paterson said in an interview, referring to the lack of response from the Biden administration. “There might be a kind of city versus country revolt — which we probably need at this point.”

Reacting to the violence against the protesters, a spokesperson for Mayor Adams defended the anger backed by Republicans.

“New Yorkers are weary of bearing the brunt of this national crisis, and we empathize with their concerns,” the spokesperson told Fox, before taking a direct jab at the Biden administration.

“With more than 100,000 asylum seekers that have come through our intake system since spring 2022 and hundreds more continuing to arrive in our city asking for shelter daily, New York City has been left largely alone to deal with a national crisis that demands difficult decision-making,” the spokesperson added.
