Another Kabul: Mass Desertion Among Ukraine Troops Armed w/ US Weaponry

'We will give weapons to anyone who wants to defend the country. Be ready to support Ukraine in the squares of our cities... '

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) As Russia invades the Ukraine, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers have deserted the military, Liberty Daily reported.

According to reports coming out of the region, the Ukrainians seem to have little stomach for a fight. In the wake of mass desertion, leaders of the embattled region desperately called for people to take up arms against the Russian military.

“The Russian military says it is seeing mass desertion among Ukranian troops,” a reporter wrote. “The Ukranian Minister of Defense has called on ‘anyone who can hold a gun’ to join the armed forces.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who declared martial law earlier today, announced this morning that his government will give weapons to any citizens who are willing to fight.

“We will give weapons to anyone who wants to defend the country. Be ready to support Ukraine in the squares of our cities.” he tweeted.

Yet gun ownership is minimal in Ukraine. A mere 10% of the population owns at least one firearm, according to reports.

Despite these low levels of training among the citizenry, the Ministry of Defense also called upon the people to take up arms against the professional Russian military.

“Ukranian Defense Minister on Facebook calls everyone to take up arms against the Russian invasion. He hactually says the ministry will provide the armaments for the volunteers,” one reporter wrote.

As the situation escalates, Ukrainian leaders have cut off negotiations with the Russians.

“We have severed diplomatic relations with Russia, Zelenskyy wrote. “For all those who have not yet lost their conscience in Russia, it is time to go out and protest against the war with Ukraine.”

According to other reports emerging from the Ukraine, explosions could be heard throughout cities across the nation last night.

Nonetheless, casualties have remained minimal.

After weeks of tough talk, the United Nations (UN) has resorted to begging Russian President Vladimir Putin to be less mean.

“Under the present circumstances, I must change my appeal,” UN official Antonio Guterres said. “President Putin, in the name of humanity, bring your troops back to Russia.”

“This conflict must stop now,” he concluded.
