(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) New court filings appear to paint a very different picture of convicted killer Karmelo Anthony than the one his supporters and defense attorneys have presented, with new alleged racist, homophobic and gun-related images and messages emerging.
The documents, reported by the Daily Mail on Monday, were part of the evidence gathered against Anthony during his trial for the murder of teen track star Austin Metcalf in Texas. Anthony repeatedly claimed he acted in self-defense, though the jury rejected that argument.
One of the documents, a screenshot from a video recorded five months before Metcalf’s death, showed a nude Anthony holding what appeared to be a handgun.
A second image showed a 16-year-old Anthony holding what the Mail described as an “AK-47-style rifle” next to other individuals.
A third file was a video of Anthony reportedly recording himself while pointing a gun at a house. He reportedly ran away from the house before the video ended, the Mail reported.

Anthony is serving 35 years in a Texas prison after a Collin County jury convicted him of first-degree murder for stabbing Metcalf following a dispute at a track meet on April 2, 2025.
According to the Mail, the newly unearthed documents never emerged at trial due to a “gentleman’s agreement” between prosecutors and Anthony’s defense team not to introduce potentially toxic evidence involving either Metcalf or Anthony.
The files also appear to show Anthony engaging in a racist rant against black women.
“I f***ing despise black b***es,” the 18-year-old convicted felon wrote in March 2025 to his girlfriend, Valeria Perez.
“Ahhhh hn I DO NOT LIKE BLACK B****ES,” he added. “all tht wig glue getting to they f***ing brain.”
In another text, Anthony reportedly wrote, “f***ing n***ers” and “they need to go die,” seemingly in reference to black women.
A separate batch of messages showed Anthony berating gay individuals, claiming that “these f***ing gay people are f***ing everything up.”
He also referred to then-President Joe Biden as “GAY.”
“Like for like his business reasons. Another reason Trump didn’t like gay ppl Biden does. I hate gay ppl,” he added.
According to NBC News, Anthony’s defense attorneys filed an appeal of his conviction in July, though the Dallas Court of Appeals is not expected to hear the case until 2027.
Specifically, the attorneys are arguing that the agreement not to introduce the documents newly unearthed by the Mail hindered Anthony’s ability to present a full self-defense argument.
The case has drawn sharply divided reactions from politicians, civil rights activists and critics online.
Some of Anthony’s supporters, particularly on the political left, have portrayed his prosecution and conviction as evidence of racism, pointing to the fact that Anthony is black while Metcalf was white.
His supporters have highlighted Anthony’s academic record and family background. By contrast, prosecutors successfully argued before the jury that he was a violent individual who was carrying a knife and fatally stabbed Metcalf during the confrontation.
