(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) In a fiery response to the recent bribery indictment against Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., and his wife, prominent conservative figures have raised their voices, demanding that the DOJ act against President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
Menendez, who has long been under scrutiny by the U.S. District Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, now faces charges related to accepting bribes, including gold bullion, amounting to several hundred thousand dollars.
The indictment against Menendez has stirred Republican critics on Twitter, who argue that it is merely the tip of the iceberg compared to the allegations surrounding the Biden family.

“Bob Menendez is obviously corrupt, but so is the DOJ, which I suspect is only prosecuting him now to take the heat off Biden, who committed the same crimes,” said Michael Knowles, the popular Daily Wire host, on Saturday
Substack writer KanekoaTheGreat echoed Knowles, stating, “If you believe Senator Bob Menendez’s actions were criminal, you should find President Biden’s actions even more concerning.”
The allegations against Biden prompted House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to approve an impeachment inquiry to further probe an alleged bribery scheme detailed in an FBI informant file. The infamous FD-1023 outlines a potentially explosive criminal plot to protect Burisma, the Ukrainian gas company, in exchange of $10 million paid to both Biden and his son.
Hunter, who is facing charges related to an alleged illegal purchase of a gun, has not faced charges related to these foreign businesses.
IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley has also come forward with troubling claims, asserting that the DOJ had interfered with the investigation into Hunter, preventing then-U.S. District Attorney David Weiss, who now serves as a special counsel, from pursuing more severe charges against the controversial first son.
Alina Habba, an attorney for former President Donald Trump, accused the DOJ of only bringing charges against Menendez in a desperate bid to appear impartial.
“What they’re doing here is trying — it’s just like how they brought a felony charge for guns only against Hunter Biden,” Habba said in an interview with Newsmax on Friday. “Why? Because it’s the only way that they don’t have to dive into Joe Biden. This is more of the same.”
Last week, Attorney General Merrick Garland attempted to defend the DOJ against accusations of political interference during a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee. “There is not one set of laws for the powerful and another for the powerless. … One for Democrats, another for Republicans,” the embattled attorney general claimed.
However, many Republicans remained unconvinced, with Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, asserting, “The fix is in. Even with the face-saving indictment last week of Hunter Biden, everyone knows the fix is in.”
