in a Sunday interview on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., hinted at the possibility of subpoenaing Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, but emphasized the importance of timing and facts in the decision-making process.
“The one thing the American public has to understand is there’s a strategy behind everything,” McCarthy stated. “We only follow facts. Hunter Biden will get subpoenaed, but when’s the appropriate time? Do you do it because television wants it, or do you do it around the facts and the timing?”

McCarthy has assigned Reps. James Comer, Ky., Jim Jordan, Ohio, and Jason Smith, Mo., to lead an impeachment inquiry into the alleged scandals surrounding the president.
Comer, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, explained that the delay in issuing subpoenas against Hunter is due to potential legal challenges.
“He could fight the subpoena in court,” Comer said in a Newsmax interview last week. “It’s very difficult. I think if it were easy to get a president or their son in front of a House committee that the January 6 committee probably would have done that with Donald Trump.”
Newsmax host questions James Comer — why not subpoena Hunter Biden today? Comer says Hunter would fight it.

However, the New York Post reported on Sunday that critics could argue that this rationale contradicts the actions taken by the January 6 committee, which subpoenaed former President Donald Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle, Trump’s son’s fiancée.
Prominent conservative voices have expressed their frustration with the delay in issuing subpoenas. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., called for McCarthy to take action and slap Hunter with a congressional subpoena.
Former Trump advisor Sebastian Gorka criticized House Republicans, stating, “After 8 months? You didn’t even have the stones to subpoena Hunter. Waiting for your excuse.”
