(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) David Shafer, a co-defendant in the Fulton County DA charges related to the case prosecuting alleged Georgia election interference, set social media abuzz with an unexpectedly playful, yet defiant, move.
Following his arraignment on Wednesday, Shafer turned heads by making his own mugshot his profile picture on X, quickly going viral as a result. With the caption “Good morning! #NewProfilePicture,” Shafer’s apparent joy drew reactions from prominent conservative figures and commentators.
The ALX account summed it up as “Epic,” while Dan Bongino, a prominent commentator, offered a visual thumbs-up by attaching an applauding photo below Shafer’s tweet.
Podcast Host Jack Posobiec pointed out the uniqueness of the move, exclaiming, “SHAFER JUST MADE HIS FULTON COUNTY MUGSHOT HIS NEW PROFILE PIC.” Mollie Hemingway, Editor-in-Chief of the Federalist, added a touch of humor: “I hope that when the corrupt prosecutors come for me, I’m able to have this awesome of a mug shot.”
Heather Mullins, a political commentator, similarly praised Shafer’s fearless attitude, calling him “badass.” She further added, “Look at this mug shot. No fear because we have what they don’t…EVIDENCE!” Journalist Mike Cernovich’s succinct “Innocent” declaration and Catturd’s emphatic “Based” reaction contributed to the growing online buzz.

Facing a total of eight charges, including impersonating a public officer, forgery and attempting to file false documents, Shafer’s association as one of the 16 pro-Trump alternate electors has brought him into the national spotlight in the contentious case led by leftist Fulton County DA Fani Willis.
While it is not immediately clear whether Trump’s legal defense PAC is backing Shafer’s defense, the Georgia Republican Party launched a fundraiser to support Shafer’s legal battle in Fulton County.
“David Shafer and the other contingent Republican electors in Georgia are patriots who love this country and did absolutely nothing wrong,” Georgia GOP Chairman Josh McKoon said. “David Shafer did the right thing… He exercised the First Amendment rights promised to each of us. He did so bravely, honorably and with integrity.”

The release of Shafer’s mugshot followed the equally headline-grabbing mugshot of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and attorneys Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis, all of which worked closely with former President Trump to file lawsuits amid the infamous 2020 presidential election.
