(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) New Jersey’s political landscape may undergo a significant transformation in the upcoming 2023 elections, with Republicans poised to make substantial gains and potentially turn the state red ahead of the 2024 presidential race.
A memo released by the Republican State Leadership Committee has highlighted a growing dislike of controversy-ridden President Joe Biden and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy. This dissatisfaction among voters, the memo reports, leads voters to the Republican Party.

“Not only is Joe Biden unpopular in New Jersey, he is wildly unpopular in the legislative districts most likely to be competitive in 2023,” the RSCL stated in a press release on Friday. “Overburdensome Democrat policies continue to be incredibly effective for Republican messaging, making voters more likely to seek out a Republican candidate.”
The memo was launched as a partnership between the RSLC and the Grassroots Targeting group, which conducted interviews with 2,250 likely voters in New Jersey between May 17 and May 25, 2023.
Edith Jorge Tuñon, Deputy Executive Director of the RSLC, blasted the Democratic rule in the state’s capital.
“New Jerseyans realize the one-party rule in Trenton has failed them as their policies have led the Garden State to have an unfriendly business climate, egregious tax hikes, and soaring crime,” she said. “Voters are ready to elect more state Republicans who will be laser-focused on commonsense policies and stripping away Democrats’ overbearing power of governing.”
The RSLC had previously identified New Jersey as a state with significant potential for Republican gains, as demonstrated by their successes in the 2021 elections.
The current memo further solidifies their belief that Republicans can defend their previous wins and continue to erode the dominance of the one-party Democrat rule.
