(Robert Jonathan, Headline USA) Seemingly without a hint of self-awareness, the Biden White House on Wednesday published a proclamation in commemoration of World Elder Abuse Day.
The nearly 900-word statement signed by President Joe Biden started off by lamenting that “a silent epidemic of elder abuse is denying seniors the ability to age with dignity, security, and grace.”
The staff-written proclamation also noted that “Fighting elder abuse begins with bringing it out of the shadows and raising awareness about its many forms.”
Biden’s decree even acknowledged that elder mistreatment such as psychological abuse “can happen anywhere—at home with family or friends, at work among colleagues…”
Critics pointed out, however, that the Democrat administration may wish to get its own house in order before casting any stones.
Having eclipsed the record for “oldest” president (set by his predecessor) by more than eight years, Biden, 80, often seems confused and has fallen down in public on several occasions.

While many remain skeptical of his declared intention to run for a second term, some have expressed genuine concern over his own health—and that of the country—if he were to follow through.
“Biden is statistically unlikely to survive another four-year term as president,” noted Andrew Stiles of the Washington Free Beacon on Wednesday. “… Bottom line: Please don’t make this poor old geezer run for reelection.”
Coincidentally, former President Donald Trump celebrated his 77th birthday on Wednesday—the same day as the White House proclamation.
Politics aside, the difference in energy level and cognition of the two presumptive 2024 rivals couldn’t be more glaring.
At least one likely contender—California Gov. Gavin Newsom—appeared to be positioning himself for a possible run in the event that Biden should drop out or become incapacitated in some way, or if pending investigations into his criminal corruption should force his resignation.
Despite his reputation as a radical leader in the nation’s most extreme-left state, Newsom recently appeared on Fox News in a bid to normalize himself with middle America.
But he insisted in the interview with Fox host Sean Hannity that he regularly spoke with Biden and fully expected him to run.
“How many times does your phone ping a day, people saying you need to get in this race because they agree with me that he’s not up to the job,” Hannity pressed him.
“I’m not answering,” Newsom responded.
