Dem. Strategist Says Fla. a ‘Terrorist State’ after Visiting for Spring Break

'Certainly, as a lesbian, as a black woman, I don’t want to have anything to do with the place ... '

(Corine GattiHeadline USA) Despite taking a spring break vacation in Florida with her family, Democrat strategist Aisha Mills called it a “terrorist state” after enjoying its fun-and-sun hospitality.

Mills’s unfurled her hypocritical claim in the wake of the NAACP issuing a travel advisory that warned about what they deemed Florida’s marginalization of people of color and the LGBTQ community, the Daily Caller reported. The organization claimed that Florida is “openly hostile” to these groups and urged travelers to be aware before visiting.

That didn’t stop Mills from enjoying her vacation in the Sunshine State and rewriting her experience, responding to the NAACP’s warning by telling MSNBC’s Deadline that “Florida is about to be a terrorist state to many of us here in America,” according to Mediaite.

“Certainly, as a lesbian, as a black woman, I don’t want to have anything to do with the place,” she added, as the “rules for thee, but not for me,” was applied in typical leftist fashion.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson also defended the warning after a reporter listed statistics about Florida being a good state for minority business owners. “You can spin whatever language you would like to have, the policies that he had put in place are harmful policies to far too many individuals,” he told CNN on Monday.

Black unemployment in Florida is at a record low of 3.8%, far below the national average, according to the Washington Free Beacon. In the last 30 years, Florida’s black population has grown from 1.9 million to 3.2 million. This increase can be attributed to a number of factors, such as the availability of jobs and the relatively low cost of living compared to other states. Additionally, in both 2018 and 2022, DeSantis secured double-digit support from the black community in both elections.

Since DeSantis took office in 2018, NAACP chairman Leon Russell, has called the Tampa Bay area home.

The political theater stemmed from Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s decision rejecting an Advanced Placement African American Studies course that included discussions on queer theory.

A DeSantis press secretary dismissed the advisory, calling it a mere “stunt” days before DeSantis is expected to launch his presidential campaign.

Meanwhile, others are pushing back against the NAACP’s move. Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., who is black, slammed the travel advisory as “silly” and “just really stupid” on Fox and Friends.
