Okla. Gov. Kills PBS Funding over Problematic LGBT Content

(Corine Gatti, Headline USA) The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority, a PBS station, may discontinue due to Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt’s veto of a bill that would have financed its operations through 2026.

Stitt charged the station with over-sexualizing kids with LGBT content and using it for indoctrination saying, it does not represent “Oklahoma values.”

Children’s programming is continually in the crosshairs of the woke mob, sexualizing children with left-leaning propaganda in recent years—and the Republican said he’s not using tax money to pay for it.

The Oklahoma legislature appropriated $2.8 million to OETA in the current fiscal year, a 10% decrease in funding from the prior year.

“I don’t think Oklahomans want to use their tax dollars to indoctrinate kids,” Stitt said in a press conference in April. “Some of the stuff that they’re showing just overly sexualizes our kids.”

The governor’s office cited examples of PBS shows using questionable programming. Those included PBS Kids’ “Clifford the Big Red Dog” introducing LGBT characters, and a same-sex wedding featured on PBS Kids’ “Odd Squad,” which also airs on OETA.

“Let’s Learn,” is another program pushing agendas. One segment featured a drag queen named Lil Miss Hot Mess reading a children’s book titled The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish, the governor’s office noted.

Stitt also faulted OETA for promoting LGBT voices, airing news content about genital-mutilation transgender surgery for minors and promoting puberty blockers.

During a “PBS Newshour” segment broadcasted in March, an Indiana couple spoke about how transgender surgery was helpful for their 10-year-old “daughter.” They claimed claimed the child had started expressing transgender preferences even before learning to speak.

“Oklahoma taxpayers are going, ‘Hey, hang on, time out for just a second. That’s not my values,’” the governor told Fox News Digital.

“I’m just tired of using taxpayer dollars for some person’s agenda. I represent the taxpayers,” he added. “OETA, to us, is an outdated system. You know, the big, big question is why are we spending taxpayer dollars to prop up or compete with the private sector and run television stations?”
