RINO Rep. Nancy Mace: Texas Judge’s Abortion Pill Ruling a ‘Mistake’

'Women are watching, and they deserve better... '

(Corine GattiHeadline USA) Rep. Nancy Mace, RINO-S.C., argued on CNN that Texas federal judge Matthew Kacsmaryk made a “mistake” blocking the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of two abortion drugs mifepristone and misoprostol.

Mace, who pushed for greater abortion access in the past, argued that the FDA should disregard the ruling. She is the first Republican to publicly do so.

“In fact, when you look at the court case and the ruling here the judge used an act or a law from the 1800s that was overturned by the Supreme Court in 1983, over 100 years later, roughly, that that law was unconstitutional,” Mace told CNN. “This is an FDA-approved drug. Whether you agree with its usage or not, that’s not your decision. That is the FDA’s decision.”

In January, the pro-life Republican said her party needs to welcome exceptions to abortion bans. Republicans must shift gears or face serious consequences, she warned. At stake, according to her, is nothing less than the party’s very future. Mace also said she is trying to lead her party to a more “centrist” view of abortion amid an internal GOP debate over how far to take its pro-life stance.

“There are members of Congress up here that want to bring forth a bill to the floor that bans all abortions with no exceptions. That is not where the vast majority of people are in this country,” Mace said. “There’s a way to move forward to protect women’s rights and the right to life that should not be off the table.”

Kacsmaryk, a Donald Trump appointee, ruled in favor of an injunction to protect the public from the dangerous implications of the FDA’s hastened approval process.

“By illegally approving dangerous chemical abortion drugs, the FDA put women and girls in harm’s way, and it’s high time the agency is held accountable for its reckless actions,” the Alliance Defending Freedom said in a press release obtained by the Daily Caller
