MAGA Red Wave Swamps Bragg’s Indictment of Trump

'So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) The Red Wave that pundits had expected for November’s midterms that turned into a trickle erupted with tsunami force Thursday, when Republicans united behind Donald Trump after it was reported that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg had indicted the former president.

“Democrats are branding Trump as a criminal, along with the 74 million people who voted for him,” said Fox News host Jesse Watters. “They think the mug shot will scare you. They’re wrong. This will light a fire inside every rational-thinking American.”

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American,” tweeted Ron DeSantis.

While the popular Florida Republican governor hasn’t officially announced a 2024 presidential run, he is widely considered among the frontrunners to challenge Trump. DeSantis had previously offered tepid criticism of Bragg’s case centered on alleged hush-money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels. That changed Thursday, when DeSantis came out swinging, part of widespread GOP support for Trump and condemnation of Bragg.

“The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent,” DeSantis wrote, and vowed that Florida would “not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.”

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., ripped Bragg for weaponizing “our sacred system of justice,” in a politically-motivated attack on Trump.

“Alvin Bragg has irreparably damaged our country in an attempt to interfere in our Presidential election,” McCarthy wrote. “As he routinely frees violent criminals to terrorize the public, he weaponized our sacred system of justice against President Donald Trump.”

Evoking the wave of support that has grown behind Trump since the indictment was reported, McCarthy said that, “The American people will not tolerate this injustice, and the House of Representatives will hold Alvin Bragg and his unprecedented abuse of power to account.”

Former Vice President Mike Pence, who has been vocally critical of Trump, called the indictment “an outrage,” adding that “It appears to millions of Americans to be nothing more than a political prosecution.”

Donald Trump Jr. amplified that sentiment. “This is stuff that would make Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot — it would make them blush. It’s so flagrant. It’s so crazed,” he said.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., unwittingly revealed what Democrats and Never-Trumpers think about how the justice system should work to nail Orange Man Bad.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., further showcased Democrat contempt for the justice system, putting Bragg on notice for reportedly withholding exculpatory information from the grand jury.

Trump presaged that the overt weaponization of the justice system by Bragg and Democrats would result in a groundswell of MAGA support.

“I believe this Witch-Hunt will backfire massively on Joe Biden,” Trump wrote in a blistering response to the indictment. “The American people realize exactly what the Radical Left Democrats are doing here. Everyone can see it. So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we are going to throw every last one of these Crooked Democrats out of office so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said that Trump showed no signs of backing down in the face of the indictment, while moving aggressively forward protecting election integrity and focusing on his 2024 presidential campaign.

“I spoke with President Donald Trump moments ago. He is resolute and focused,” Gaetz said Thursday.

“He is also concerned about what this politically-motivated indictment will do to America’s brand around the world,” Gaetz said. “We will wake up in a very different America tomorrow because we can no longer have moral authority against the dictators and despots who find it easier to jail their political rivals than to compete against them in free and fair elections.”
