NYC Dem. Mayor Urging People to Unmask for Public Safety

'We need to stop allowing them to exploit the safety of the pandemic by wearing masks, committing crimes... '

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) After previously threatening to ruin the lives of people who defied a tyrannical mask mandate, New York City Mayor Eric Adams is now begging NYC residents to stop masking, for the sake of public safety.

According to the formerly pro-masking mandate mayor, Big Apple residents need to stop wearing masks because it makes robbery and theft too easy, according to the New York Times.

“We are putting out a clear call to all of our shops, do not allow people to enter the store without taking off their face mask,” the mayor said in a radio interview on Monday. “And then once they’re inside, they can continue to wear it if they so desire to do so.”

New York City has been wracked by crime in recent years, due in no small part to leftist policies of defunding the police and importing thousands of illegal immigrants.

Adams, who was elected as a mayor that would crack down on crime, alluded to the masking problems again later on Monday in another interview.

“Let’s be clear, some of these characters going into stores that are wearing their mask, they’re not doing it because they’re afraid of the pandemic, they’re doing it because they’re afraid of the police,” the mayor said, continuing to call for the end of masking in public.

“We need to stop allowing them to exploit the safety of the pandemic by wearing masks, committing crimes.”

According to Adams, requiring maskers to drop their masks upon entry to stores would allow their faces to be seen on camera, thereby helping later police investigations if they go on to rob the store.

The refusal to comply, Adams suggested, would allow store employees to monitor the situation.

“If someone is violating the basic rules, they may be there to violate a substantial rule as to commit a crime,” he noted.

“That’s all we are trying to do — empower the store owners, the storekeepers, so they can play a role.”
