Hobbs Threatened Arrests to Elect Herself Ariz. Gov., Lake to Pay ‘Sanctions’

'Secretary-of-State Katie Hobbs is openly bullying her way to ‘Governor Katie Hobbs' ... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) While new reporting confirmed that Arizona’s alleged governor-elect Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, used her position as secretary of state to overtly threaten county officials with jail if they didn’t certify her election results, her gubernatorial opponent, Republican Kari Lake, was ordered to pay “sanctions” for a lawsuit questioning those results.

Hobbs’s office, in the form of Arizona State Elections Director Kori Lorick, repeatedly “threatened the Mohave County Board of Supervisors with prosecution” if it didn’t certify the widely disputed election results before a Monday deadline.

Lorick “wrote several letters and emails to members of the board, warning them of criminal charges if the refused to certify the results in time,” and “included threats of lawsuits against the members for ‘nonfeasance,’” according to emails and documents reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“The Secretary of State did contact our County and cited A.R.S. Section 16-1010 as a statute that could be used to prosecute [the board] if they did not certify the election,” Matt Smith, the Mohave County attorney, told the Daily Caller. The charges could have been a Class 6 felony with up to two years prison.

Arizona state Rep. Jake Hoffman said that the “threats directed at the Mohave County Supervisors is a gross abuse of power and highlights the dangerous conflict of interest that exists in allowing [Hobbs] to manage her own election.”

Notwithstanding the threats, Lake was ordered by a judge on Thursday to pay “sanctions” of attorneys fees for the lawsuit she filed challenging the widespread election irregularities and voter disenfranchisement.

“Plaintiffs’ and their counsels’ use of the Court to further a disinformation campaign and false narrative concerning the integrity of the election process in Arizona by asserting demonstrably false allegations is repugnant,” declared the motion seeking sanctions, according to Arizona’s KTAR News.

The Republican Party of Arizona had its own opinion about the state’s election integrity problems.

“Secretary-of-State Katie Hobbs is openly bullying her way to ‘Governor Katie Hobbs,’” the group tweeted. “And that’s not ‘DANGEROUS TO DEMOCRACY’?”
