J6 Inquisition Staffers Rip Liz Cheney for Trump Obsession

'But when [the committee] became a Cheney 2024 campaign, many of us became discouraged... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) After having lived out her usefulness as a Republican stooge on the J6 Inquisition and dutifully carried out her assigned public hit job on former President Donald Trump, the pitchforks have come out for lame duck Wyoming RINO Rep. Liz Cheney.

Less than weeks after Democrats lost control of the U.S. House, and with Cheney dispatched by Wyoming voters, partisan staffers for the Jan. 6th Select Commission turned on Cheney, claiming that she put her own political career and personal vendetta against Trump ahead of her service to the committee and obligation to paint a full picture of the J6 protests.

Speaking anonymously, likely because they feared recriminations from a vindictive Cheney, 15 former and current J6 committee staffers told the Washington Post that they were concerned important findings unrelated to Trump will remain hidden from the American public.

A draft of the committee’s report with Cheney’s print all over it focused almost exclusively on Trump, while ignoring other aspects that included “law enforcement and intelligence community’s failure to assess the looming threat and prepare for the well-forecast attack on the Capitol,” the Post reported, noting that work done investigating the alleged financing of the protests would also be cut, along with information on alleged militia groups and extremism.

Cheney spokesman Jeremy Adler told the Post that the grumblings were all just sour grapes, and that “damn right Liz is ‘prioritizing’ understanding what [Trump] did and how [Trump] did it and ensuring it never happens again.”

It, in this case, would be planning, orchestrating and actively leading a full-fledged attack on the Capitol, while under the eye of multiple government agencies with a decidedly anti-Trump bias and a mainstream media that was obsessed with the former president’s every move.

Given Cheney’s history as an avowed enemy of MAGA Republicans who suffers from a terminal case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, the biased and aggressive nature of Cheney’s spin of the J6 committee’s report shouldn’t come as a shock. But apparently it did to several staffers.

“We all came from prestigious jobs, dropping what we were doing because we were told this would be an important fact-finding investigation that would inform the public,” one former committee staffer told the Post. “But when [the committee] became a Cheney 2024 campaign, many of us became discouraged.”
