(Headline USA) Michigan Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer referred to women as “people with periods” in a TikTok video that resurfaced right before Election Day.
In the video, Whitmer touts a proposed tax cut, saying it would “reduce the economic burden of the cost of menstrual products, especially for lower-income Michiganders.”
“[The bill would save] people with a period from paying taxes on up to $4,800 in spending over the course of their lifetime,” Whitmer claimed.
Whitmer’s Republican opponent, Tudor Dixon, shared the video on Twitter this week, slamming the Democrat for being out-of-touch with the public.
“The word she refuses to say is ‘women,'” Dixon wrote. “Gretchen Whitmer continues to devalue the existence and reality of women by referring to us as ‘people with periods.'”

Dixon also slammed Whitmer for cutting off an interview this weekend after being asked about her COVID-19 record.
“Governor, when it comes to your handling of the pandemic, we all know the critics over the past few years, do you have any regrets and…?” FOX 2 Detroit anchor Josh Landon asked Whitmer on Monday morning.
Whitmer didn’t answer, instead claiming that her audio had cut off.
“I’m sorry …” appearing to clasp at her earpiece.
Someone off-camera with the governor is heard saying, “Oh, sh**, I think we lost…”
Landon tried again, saying, “Go ahead, governor.”
Whitmer does not respond as she glances at the camera and down again, holding her earpiece.
“Did I do that when I touched the ear thing? It started to fall out,” she said.
Dixon shared a video of the interview, saying she hoped the Democrat will still answer for her COVID policies.
“We hope Gretchen Whitmer can get back on air to answer this question about her disastrous COVID policies (or will the equipment mysteriously malfunction again?),” Dixon wrote.
