House Republicans Demand Resignation of Biden’s Top Border Commissioner

'It is unacceptable for someone in such a critical position to skip high-level meetings because of his sleep schedule...'

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Several House Republicans submitted a letter Tuesday to President Joe Biden requesting that he call for the resignation of Chris Magnus, commissioner for US Customs and Border Protection over his utter failure to secure the border.

Led by Rep. Jody Hice, R-Ga., the group’s letter references a report from Politico in which five current Biden admin officials told the outlet that Magnus was totally missing in action, the Daily Caller reported.

The sources also said that Magnus does not attend White House meetings concerning the border crisis, has not built relationships with CBP officials or anyone from other departments and constantly spoke unfavorably about other agencies.

The lawmakers wrote that Magnus should be forced to resign and the next candidate who is chosen for the job must be willing to focus on the border crisis.

“Based on a recent report by Politico, U.S. CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus has been sleeping on the job—literally,” Hice said in a statement before sending the letter.

“It is unacceptable for someone in such a critical position to skip high-level meetings because of his sleep schedule,” Hice continued. “America’s top border official is prioritizing naps over national security. Under his supervision, we’ve seen record-breaking border crossings month after month.”

Hice demanded that the Biden administration act fast to make sure the damage being done at the border is addressed as soon as possible.

Border agents have encountered at least 2 million migrants at the United States’ southern border.

They also seized $3.31 billion in counterfeit goods—over 319,000 pounds of marijuana, over 190,000 pounds of meth, and over 97,000 pounds of cocaine.

The porous border has also increased the intensity of a rising fentanyl problem, with the drug being trafficked from Mexico in record amounts.

Neither the White House nor CBP has responded to the letter.

In fact, Democrats have largely ignored the border, aside from asking federal employees to volunteer to clean up the illegal immigrant’s trash.
