(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) Left-wing media has begun a narrative-reversal regarding vote fraud and election security, calling former President Donald Trump‘s Stop the Steal campaign a “fantasy” while supporting his specific claims about mail-in ballots and electronic voting systems.
From the Left’s perspective, America’s elections have major security issues but Trump warned about them for “illegitimate purposes”—defeating his Democrat opponent and exposing widespread mail-in ballot fraud, WhoWhatWhy reported.
Democrats popularized election denialism, with Hillary Clinton claiming that Trump stole the 2016 presidential election with Russia’s help and Stacey Abrams asserting that she won Georgia’s 2018 gubernatorial race, not Republican Brian Kemp.
But Democrats alone may voice election security concerns, and on their own terms.
WhoWhatWhy CEO and founder Russ Baker wrote that he warned about the election security “crisis” before other outlets, noting the failure to preserve “chain of custody of ballots and the vulnerabilities of electronic voting systems.”
Trump and Baker agree on the most fundamental point, yet somehow Trump’s concerns have no merit.
“Hand-marked ballots, with the security of the chain of custody preserved and well documented, are probably the only way to ensure an election wasn’t hijacked,” Baker wrote, sounding like a “MAGA” and “QAnon kooks” Republican.
He admitted that election machines from precincts in 10 states were connected to the internet, and that 35 voting systems across the country were susceptible to internet hacks.
Over in Georgia, Baker made the same allegation that Trump did: “The overall voting system is potentially insecure” due to Dominion Voting Systems and the state’s peculiar ballot-marking devices.
“The lack of attention paid by the media to the real problems with voting machines may be explained, in part, by the fact that news organizations have painted themselves into a corner,” Baker concluded. “They’ve been telling their audience that there is nothing to Trump’s election manipulation claims,” but “Trump is right about a few things.”
