Abbott Sends 2 Busloads of Illegals to Residence of Border Czar Kamala Harris

'The governors of Texas and Arizona have created this crisis [and] have turned us into a border town...'

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) Texas Gov. Greg Abbott delivered two busloads of illegal immigrants to the heart of Washington, D.C.’s cocktail-party district, where they will be greeted by the tender, nurturing arms of the city’s elite Establishment.

The buses from Del Rio, Texas, were dropped off near the U.S. Naval Observatory, which also encompasses the official residence of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris was named border czar early in the Biden presidency, as the retraction of former President Donald Trump’s hard-fought immigration policies—alongside Democrats’ inviting rhetoric—brought thousands flooding across the southern border on a daily basis.

But the new vice president openly laughed at the prospect of being burdened with such a weighty—and politically volatile—responsibility, claiming she would work to address the “root causes” rather than secure the acutal border.

The group of 75-100 passengers dropped off at her doorstep Thursday included immigrants from Venezuela, Uruguay, Colombia and Mexico, Fox News reported.

The Observatory lies due north of Georgetown and east of posh areas like Adams Morgan and Kalorama, where the Obamas currently make their residence.

The dropoff spot is also near the section of Massachusetts Avenue known as Embassy Row, a perfect place for the immigrants to claim asylum if the U.S. proves not to be of their liking.

Marla Bustillos, of the pro-open-borders activist group Sanctuary DMV, said volunteers had been waiting at the city’s central transportation terminal, Union Station, to receive the incoming delegations.

“I was surprised to see [the press] here before we could get here,” she told Fox News. “So the press knew the location before we did… it’s very frustrating.”

She said the illegals would be taken to a church or another “safe location” where they would be processed and sent onward to the destination of their choosing.

“We’re gonna make it happen, but it takes a lot of resources, a lot of effort,” Bustillos said.

It is unclear whether the activists have been coordinating with local or federal officials to obtain those resources.

The new arrivals come just a week after D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a “public emergency” and xenophobic D.C. councilmember Brianne Nadeau complained that the border states most affected by the Biden administration’s open borders policies had effectively turned the nation’s capital into a “border town.”

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker likewise has dispatched the National Guard to assist with incoming buses to Chicago, while the Windy City’s mayor, Lori Lightfoot, has attempted to rerout them into the city’s more conservative suburbs.

Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was on the receiving end of secret shipments arranged by the Biden administration, made good on a promise to send flights to Martha’s Vineyard, the Massachusetts coastal retreat and leftist enclave where the Obamas have a summer home.

The decision to use nonenforcement as a tactic to promote illegal immigration—which Democrats believe will secure them greater political majorities in the longterm—first began in 2014 with an executive fiat from the Obama administration.
