Dem. Ex-N.Y. Gov.: Abbott’s Migrant-Busing Plan Is ‘Brilliant’

'But I think nationally, it’s an amazing way to focus people on the whole immigration process... '

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has spent the last several months sending illegal immigrants allowed to cross the border by the federal government to the seat of the federal government in Washington, DC, and its woke financial elites in New York City.

And though xenophobic New York and DC elites have complained extensively about Abbott’s move, ex-New York Gov. David Paterson, a Democrat himself, praised Abbott’s political savvy, suggesting that he has concocted a remarkable plan.

“The governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, has come up with … one of the most brilliant political strategies I’ve heard in a long time,” Paterson said.

“I’m a Democrat. And there are a lot of things I don’t like about what he is doing. However, sometimes you have to tip your cap to your opponent.”

According to Paterson, the Texas governor has put New York City Mayor Eric Adams, as well as DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, in difficult positions.

“It has really paid dividends to him politically,” Paterson said of Abbott. “In addition, it has put New York’s Mayor Eric Adams in the position where he can’t say he won’t accept the immigrants.”

“That would be going against what has been the policy most Democrats have on immigration in the first place. And if [Adams] sends the immigrants back to Texas, he is … going against his own attempt to get the federal government to help pay for the fact that they are here.”

Abbott’s move, in Paterson’s view, will serve to keep the immigration question at the forefront of American political discourse–a move which can only harm Democrats as they are forced to deal with the consequences of their own woke policies.

“I don’t think Adams is being hurt in this process at all,” the former governor said. “But I think nationally, it’s an amazing way to focus people on the whole immigration process.”
